Energy Dynamics Limited (EnDyn, Ltd.) of Alice, Texas finalized a joint venture with Quimex, Ltd. of Geneva, Switzerland, Altronic Controls, Inc. of Dallas, Texas, and Altronic, Inc. of Girard, Ohio to provide Digital Control Systems to Total, a company with oil and natural gas holdings offshore of Gabon Africa.

The joint venture was responsible for the design, engineering, installation, commissioning, training and troubleshooting of the Digital Control Systems (DCS) for Total’s three Cooper-Bessemer GMVA-12s, large-bore natural gas integral engine/compressors, located off the coast of Gabon.

Jack McMonagle, Vice-President of Operations for EnDyn, Ltd., explained, “EnDyn will be primarily responsible for the service end of this project, while Altronic will provide the System’s components, and Quimex will provide overall project management.”

The $1.02 M project will “provide complete turn-key local electronic controls of engine speed, air-fuel control, monitoring and shutdown for the engine and compressor offshore platforms. This DCS system will be integrated into the customer’s control room on-shore,” explained McMonagle.

As part of the project, EnDyn sent two of the company’s Alice-based service representatives to the African country for three months to work with two of Quimex’s local technicians. These Alicians played an integral role in the installation, training and troubleshooting of the new systems to Total’s current compressor operators.

“Traveling worldwide to provide services to our customers is nothing new at EnDyn,” said Mark Little, Director of Services at EnDyn. “Our mechanics have been located on-site for weeks and months at a time on past projects in Tunisia, Trinidad, Colombia, Indonesia, and Kuwait, just to name a few. This Gabon project, however, is really exciting for us because it is our first large project venture in West Africa, and will hopefully open up many more opportunities in the future.”

Little also added, “As a family-oriented company, EnDyn makes every effort to ensure our mechanics are well taken care of while at a remote location, as well as their families who have stayed behind in Alice.”

Tracy Little, President, said the project caps off a “whirlwind ride of success” for the small company.

“When Jay Downes and I started this company in 1977,” said Little, “our goals were quite simple. We wanted to create a small company with a comfortable place to work that we enjoyed going to daily. As we look at EnDyn today, we feel very fortunate to have surpassed all our expectations. EnDyn is recognized as the ‘preferred supplier’ by the major users of the SUPERIOR® and AJAX® engines and compressors both in our domestic and international markets. However, with all our success, we have still been able to maintain that small, family atmosphere that was so important to us in the beginning.”

EnDyn, Ltd. manufactures a complete line of new parts for SUPERIOR® and AJAX® engines and compressors. Their product line, known as PowerParts®, is sold worldwide and carries an industry best two-year warranty.

Additionally, EnDyn provides remanufactured, exchange, and used assemblies including complete engines and compressors. Field-service, in-house overhaul and repair, machining, compressor packaging, remanufactured parts and a lease compressor fleet are a few of the international services available from EnDyn’s Service Division.
